Youth For Truth Ages 10-17 (Wednesday Evening)

Welcome to Youth for Truth – A Place for Faith, Friendship, and Purpose

At Open Door, we believe in empowering young people to live with purpose, passion, and a deep relationship with Jesus. Youth for Truth, our youth group for ages 10-17, meets every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Together, we explore what it means to be lifelong disciples, equipping our youth with the faith, courage, and vision to make a difference in the world.

Our Mission
At Youth for Truth, our mission is to inspire young people to live intentionally, connect deeply with Jesus, and be lifelong learners of the faith. We create a space where youth can encounter God in new and meaningful ways through worship, prayer, and hands-on service opportunities. We’re here to support each teen’s journey, encouraging them to find their unique role in God’s plan.

What We Do Each Week

  • Engaging Worship and Prayer: Every meeting begins with a time of worship and ends in prayer, helping youth center their hearts on God and grow in their personal relationship with Him.
  • Bible Study and Discussion: We dive into Bible-based topics that are relevant to the real lives of young people, discussing what it means to live out faith in today’s world.
  • Encouragement and Community: Youth for Truth is a place where everyone is welcomed, valued, and supported. We’re building a strong community where teens can share, grow, and encourage one another in their faith.
  • Service Opportunities: As part of our commitment to discipleship, we regularly engage in service projects, helping our youth put their faith into action and make a positive impact in our community.

Youth Pastor

Victor & Jodie Salvat

Victor and Jodie Salvat bring a dynamic blend of experience, passion, and faith to the Youth for Truth program. As a married team, they have dedicated their lives to helping young people discover the transformative power of Christ while fostering a supportive, faith-filled environment.

Victor’s journey into youth ministry began when Pastors Shawn and Jaime recognized his unique gifts. With a background in creating Hip Hop music and years of street and school kingdom work through Jaime Torres Ministries, Victor excels in connecting with youth and planting seeds of truth and hope. Jodie, who first served in youth ministry at Hulls Grove Baptist Church in Lincolnton, NC, shares Victor’s passion for seeing young people grow in their relationship with Christ.

Both Victor and Jodie were profoundly shaped by their own faith journeys. Victor encountered God’s love during a difficult time, and it changed his life forever. For Jodie, coming to faith at age 10 was the start of a journey that deepened significantly in 2013. Together, they are guided by foundational scriptures—Victor draws strength from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, while Jodie looks to Matthew 6:33 for direction.

Their vision is clear: to lead youth to Jesus, help them grow in faith, and equip them to use their gifts to advance God’s Kingdom. They focus on realistic applications of God’s Word, prayer, and encouragement to help youth navigate life’s challenges.

Outside of ministry, the Salvats enjoy laughing together daily and creating joyful moments in their marriage. Victor is a music-loving foodie who loves serving others, while Jodie is passionate about prayer and sharing her love for Christ. They are also proud parents of Victoria (25).

Victor and Jodie’s advice to families? “Stay in church, invite others, and make prayer and reading God’s Word a family priority.” Their genuine love for youth and commitment to Christ make them a remarkable team in ministry.

Assistant Youth Leaders

Aaron & Billie Bradshaw

Aaron and Billie Bradshaw have been joyfully married for 10 years, sharing a passion for nurturing and guiding youth in their faith journey. As youth leaders at Open Door Church, they bring years of experience and a heart for seeing young people grow spiritually and mature into faithful adults.

Their journey into youth ministry stems from their deep love for children. Billie has always felt a calling to teach, discovering that God wanted her to guide children toward Christ. Aaron is driven by the belief that today’s youth are the future of the church, and he is honored to play a role in their spiritual journey.

The Bradshaws have a blended family of five grown children: Aaron’s three—Caleb (29), Noah (27), and Kaitlyn (25), two of whom served in the U.S. Army—and Billie’s two—Jaccob (20) and Jaydon (18).

With eight years of youth ministry experience at Mountain Grove Church and nearly five years at Open Door, the Bradshaws are dedicated leaders who have taught and mentored youth from first grade through high school. Aaron also serves in the media ministry at Open Door and supports Jaime Torres Ministries with social media and video work, while Billie brings her creative talents to her ministry.

Aaron and Billie’s faith journeys have uniquely shaped their ministry. Aaron encountered Christ personally at 19, understanding the depth of God’s love and sacrifice. Billie surrendered her life to Jesus at 17 during a Franklin Graham rally, and her faith deepened as her own children came to know the Lord. Aaron is inspired by Esther 4:14, reminding him that God has a purpose for every moment in life, while Billie leans on Proverbs 22:6, aligning with her passion for teaching children.

Their vision for the Youth for Truth program is to help students feel individually loved and cared for, leading them to salvation and deeper faith. They strive to guide youth through life’s storms, filtering challenges through the Word of God and sharing real-life examples to encourage godly decisions.

In their free time, Billie enjoys using her creative talents for crafts like tumblers and shirts, while Aaron has a passion for classic cars, videography, and photography. Together, they love being outdoors, traveling, and cruising in their Bel-Air to enjoy fresh fruit and homemade ice cream.

Their advice to families? Parents should be spiritual examples, suiting up in the full armor of God daily, as Paul instructs in Ephesians 6:10-18. For youth, the Bradshaw’s remind them to remain faithful, trusting in God’s promises, even when rewards aren’t immediately visible.

Aaron and Billie are excited to partner with families to help youth navigate life’s challenges and grow into strong, faithful followers of Christ.

Assistant Youth Leaders

Sean & Jennifer Cutchens

With 33 years of marriage and a deep passion for youth ministry, Sean and Jennifer Cutchens bring warmth, wisdom, and experience to our Youth for Truth program. Having raised two children of their own—Devin (26) and Alexandra (30)—they understand the importance of guiding the next generation toward a strong, faith-filled foundation.

Their journey into youth leadership was born from a desire to provide the Godly support they lacked during their own youth. Together, they have over 17 years of ministry experience, including 10 years teaching Wednesday night youth classes and 7 years leading high school Sunday school. Sean and Jennifer are also active in other ministries, including a Christ-centered recovery program, Vessels of Mercy, and Jaime Torres Ministries.

The Cutchens’ faith is rooted in personal transformation. Sean shares, “When I came to know Jesus as my PERSONAL Savior, my entire life changed, and I’ve never looked back.” Guided by Isaiah 40:31, they aim to equip youth with Biblical principles that strengthen their personal walks and prepare them for life’s challenges.

Sean and Jennifer’s hope for the youth is that they see the Bible as more than historical stories—that they recognize its power to shape their lives and share the Gospel with others. Their approach is honest, real, and always centered on God’s Word.

When they’re not serving in ministry, Sean and Jennifer love traveling and exploring the outdoors. After 33 years of marriage, they remain excited about the journey God has ahead, saying, “This adventure is far from over!” Their advice to youth and families? “Stay eternal-minded, and less will trip you up. It’s easier to share Jesus’s love than to carry the world’s junk.”
